Smashbox Be Legendary Prime & Plush Lipstick

April 23, 2021

I have been loving my Smashbox products lately, like this Cali Contour palette that I’ve been using non-stop. Although, I’m still wearing masks every time I go out, I won’t say no to a pretty lipstick. Recently, I received a few shades of the Smashbox Be Legendary Prime & Plush Lipsticks and I’ve got some swatches thoughts to share with you. It’s going to be, legennndarrryy!

Basics

Name: Smashbox Be Legendary Prime & Plush Lipstick
Shades: 30 Shades, I have 4 for review
Size: 4.2g
Price: $29
Available at Smashbox and Sephora

Packaging

Smashbox packaging is usually very simple but they STEPPED IT UP for this product! The all white packaging is very chic and I like the hint of red that peeks through in the middle as well. Another little detail is the “Be Legendary” text that is visible if you turn it in certain light. The actual twist up feels a bit loose and flimsy compared to some other luxury lipsticks (like Charlotte Tilbury and YSL). But overall, I really like the packaging on this product as it’s simplistic but very chic.

Formula

When I saw the name Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick, I thought, “hey, I’ve tried that before“. And I have, I posted a review almost 4 years ago about the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Fig. The new release is called Smashbox Be Legendary Prime & Plush Lipstick and is meant to be a lipstick with a primer built in for a super smooth application! I don’t normally use a lip primer before lipsticks but I do hate it when lip colour settles into my lip lines. This peptide-infused formula definitely applies very smoothly across the lips and the ceramides also help to moisturize lips.

There is a slight sweet scent similar to MAC lipsticks and I find it quite pleasing. I’m really impressed with the formula as it’s the perfect balance between creamy and having enough grip so it doesn’t slide around. The finish is a satin look with rich color and pigmentation pay off.

Smashbox Be Legendary Prime & Plush Lipstick Swatches

There are 30 shades available and some of them are very dramatic and out there! If you’re looking for a bright purple or a true orange, you’ll find it in this collection! The four shades I received are more every day wearable shades though. Here are how these 4 shades look on me. I absolutely love an orange lip for the spring and summer time so Out Loud and First Time are my current favorites.

Stylist – Rose

First Time – Neutral Coral

Out Loud – Burnt Orange

Bawse – Deep Red

Along with this new lipstick collection, Smashbox also dropped 10 shades of the new Be Legendary Line & Define Lipliners. It comes in a pencil format that you need to sharpen. The formula is also a great balance with a bit of creaminess but not too soft.

Smashbox Be Legendary Prime & Plush Lipstick Ratings

Packaging          9/10
Colors                 10/10
Formula             10/10
Longevity           10/10
Value                  9/10
Total                    48/50 A+

Overall, I’m a huge fan of all 4 shades of the Smashbox Be Legendary Prime & Plush lipstick! The formula is super comfortable to wear and gives full coverage that still looks natural in one swipe. All the shades are very flattering too and there are more adventurous ones to pick from if you want something more daring. I would highly recommend this product if you’re looking for a traditional lipstick with a modern formula!

Inspired by the changing fall colors of the Japanese maple, this beautiful kissu lip mask now has a berry red tint. I love the moisturizing squalane and Japanese peach extracts. My dry lips have never felt so hydrated and soft. Definitely give this a try if you're looking for a smooth and plump lip with a hint of color.

🍮 The packaging is also stunning with the maple motifs on the lid that makes this display worthy in any bathroom or vanity!

Here are my top three face creams for the changing weather especially if you have dry skin!

Clarins Extra Firming: I love the day and night version of this cream. The night is even more heavy duty and creamy so sometimes I use the day version only 💫

It's got a beautiful scent and amazing collagen technology to plump the skin!

Aestura Atobarrier Lotion: this is a newer korean brand thats available now at Sephora. Part of the amorepacific family, so you know it'll be good!

The packaging is very simple and unassuming but I love how this soothes the skin! Its quite lightweight in texture but I used this when I was sick and it saved my nose after blowing into tissue a gazillion times a day! 🩵

Drunk Elephant Bora Barrier: im always a big fan of drunk elephant. This one is my favorite face cream from the brand. I love the pump packaging and this is perfect if you want hydration and barrier support!
