While age is just a number, turning 30 this year definitely made me a bit conscious about the appearance of wrinkles and saggy skin. I figured it’s time to officially start using anti-aging skincare. I have been testing out this duo from the Vichy Liftactiv Specialist line up for the past month and ready to share my thoughts!
Vichy Liftactiv Specialist B3 Serum
The Vichy Liftactiv Specialist B3 Serum helps to target and reduce uneven pigmentation on the skin! This serum uses various ingredients to target dark spots at different skin layers. In recent years, I’ve actually been struggling with having dark spots after each pimple. Surprisingly, the month that I used this product, I didn’t have any pimples, so I didn’t have any fresh dark spots to work with.
The highly concentrated formula consists of:
Niacinamide or Vitamin B3: Niacinamide is an ingredient known to have an anti-hyperpigmentation action which reduces the appearance of dark spots.
Glycolic Acid: To tackle dark spots at the skin surface level, Glycolic Acid along with Vitamin C is used for exfoliation to peel dark spots. Associated with Vitamin Cg, skin tone is more even and luminous.
The applicator of the Vichy Liftactiv Specialist B3 Serum is a bit unique. With the long pointed tip offering precision, I felt like a scientist every night. The formula is very thin and liquidy, almost like water. I usually use about 6-8 drops to cover my whole face. I didn’t have many dark spots to start with during this period so I can’t specifically comment on how it’s reduced them. But my skin felt really supple and radiant the whole time. If I was to be critical, I do feel I needed to add on a stronger exfoliation in the form of a mask once every two weeks as I felt some bumps around my pores and between my brows. But overall, I think my skin really enjoyed the formula.
Like other Vichy products, the B3 Dark Spots serum has been clinically measured by dermatologists. If you have sensitive skin, you’ll be happy to know this formula is fragrance free!
Vichy Liftactiv Collagen Specialist
To complete my skincare routine, I used the Vichy LiftActiv Collagen Specialist after the serum. This cream is an all rounder in targeting various signs of aging such as wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and saggy skin. Vichy safely combined various ingredients such as peptides, vitamin C, all with a burst of hydration.
Vichy Volcanic Water: Important to so many of Vichy’s skincare products, Vichy’s Volcanic Water contains important minerals and strengthens the skin barrier.
Peptides: A tell tale sign of aging is saggy skin. Peptides are short fragments of proteins that help visibly to firm up skin’s appearance.
Vitamin C: One of my favorite skincare ingredients that seem to do everything. Vitamin C is great at brightening the skin and is an antioxident.
Contrary to the serum which had no scent, the first thing I noticed about the Vichy Liftactiv Collagen Specialist Cream is the wonderful scent. It is a round floral scent that I love falling asleep to. My boyfriend even commented on how nice I smell a few times! He had no idea it was from a face cream. The texture is a lightweight cream and it absorbs into the skin effortlessly. After using it the last four weeks, my skin feels very supple. I didn’t have any break outs and my skin felt healthy and refreshed. I have a deep wrinkle in between my brows that I feel is less severe.
Overall, I’m very happy with both of these products and would definitely recommend them if you’re looking for anti-aging skincare.
