Although the coldest winter days are basically over, I wanted to share one of the best hydrating creams I’ve ever tried. The Kiehls Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream has been a life savor at keeping my skin plump and firm all winter long.

The Claims
Kiehl’s markets this product for dry to very dry skin. Not only does this product provide hydration, it repairs the skin barrier. Within one hour, using the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream provides repair and relief for dry and sensitive skin. Some of the key ingredients are Colloidal Oatmeal and Beta-Glucan. The formula mimics skin’s lipid structure to help support the skin barrier and reduce redness caused by dryness.
The Formula
This product is appropriately called an intensive cream as the texture is quite thick when I squeeze the cream out of the packaging. However, it is amazing how spreadable it becomes and the cream absorbs into the skin extremely well. It translates to a really nourishing feel on the skin. I also enjoy how calming this formula feels. If your skin is ever sensitive and feel other products sting the skin, the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream is what you need instead. When I was sick and blowing my nose a lot, the area was so red and irritated. But I loved applying this cream to calm down my skin and it provided a much needed boost of hydration.
The Results
This winter, my skin has felt very dehydrated, probably because the heating in my new place is forced air and. I found this cream really helped to replenish my skin and give that “bounce” back. When I wake up, my skin feels plump to the touch and looks nourished. I really enjoyed using this with the Kiehls Retinol Micro-dose Serum but since this cream is very calming, it’ll pair well with a variety of serums.
Kiehls Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream Versus Ultra Facial Cream
You may be wondering what is the difference between this new release and the iconic Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream. Luckily I have both products so I can do a comparison.
In the picture below, the Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream is on the left and the Ultra Facial Cream is on the right. The biggest difference is the texture. True to the name, the Repair Barrier Cream is much thicker while the Ultra Facial Cream is quite light.
They are both uncolored, unfragranced and gentle on the skin! I’d probably switch to the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream in the summer time while the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream is the better pick for the winter time.
