Snorkeling Cruise with Caicos Dream Tours

April 19, 2024

I am back from a week in paradise in Turks & Caicos! One of the must do activities when we were planning the trip is to go snorkeling. We went on the half day snorkeling cruise with Caicos Dream Tours and it was such a fun time! If you’re interested in snorkeling in Turks & Caicos, you need to read this adventure recap! Spoiler alert: we found Jojo the dolphin AND swam with turtles!

Half Day Snorkeling Cruise

If you are looking for a mix of snorkeling, relaxation, and time on the water, this Snorkeling Cruise is for you! During the four hours, we stopped for about 30 minutes to snorkel at a reef, and had about an hour to explore Little Water Cay. The remainder of the time was spent cruising on the water and there’s nothing like the feeling of salty air blowing across your face.

The tour started with a complimentary hotel pick up at Ports of Call and dropped us off at Alexandra Resort. We did have to wait a while, and this was probably the only thing I’d nit pick on as an improvement point. Once we left though, it was the best time! So you just need to practice a little patience at the beginning.

Snorkeling in Turks & Caicos

The first stop is snorkeling! If you’re like me and are a bit nervous about the thought of snorkeling on your own, this snorkeling tour is perfect for you. We all had belt on which helped us float and made me feel way more at ease. One of the tour guides actually led the snorkeling around the reef which was super helpful. I saw way more fish than expected and even saw a sea turtle! There were about 40 people on the boat and if you’re just there to enjoy the boat ride, you can stay onboard and skip the snorkeling.

On this day, we were at Smith’s Reef. Although you an technically access this from the beach, it is a bit far from shore and being on a boat cruise is the best way to explore it. The water was very clear, warm, and calm! Perfect conditions for first time snorkelers and the whole family!

Cruising

After we were all back onboard, we went on a little boat cruise east to west along the island. Hot tip, go to the front of the boat. Everyone else was at the back and I felt on top of the world cruising through the amazingly turquoise waters. We were also the first ones to spot Jojo the dolphin as we saw her and her friend in the waters ahead of the boat. The color of the water is breathtaking. Even going further out, the water stayed amazingly clear and turquoise.

During this time, you can also go have some rum punch (delicious and potent), or have a can of beer. All the drinks are included! They also passed along some snacks like chips and a sandwich.

Stop at Little Water Cay/Iguana Island

Lastly, we made a stop at Little Water Cay or also known as Iguana Island. From my visits to Mexican all-inclusive resorts, I have to say I’m not the biggest fan of iguanas. And from reading online, I thought this island was FILLED with iguanas. But luckily, it’s not a scene out of sci-fi movie. These little creatures mostly stayed to the side near shady bushes. They were also very good at posing for pictures.

Once you walk through the trails (a quick 5 minute walk), the other side of this island opens up to a beautiful beach! Apparently one side of Little Water Cay faces the Atlantic Ocean and the other side faces the Caribbean Sea. I thought that was pretty neat. At this point, I’ve had quite a few rum punches and was living my best island life.

Time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to head back to the boat. If it’s your first time in Turks & Caicos, I definitely recommend going on this snorkeling cruise with Caicos Dream Tours. It’s the best way to experience the island life and get a great introduction on snorkeling in Turks & Caicos!

Thanks to Caicos Dream Tour for providing a media discount so we can experience this adventure! All opinions are my own.
